Signs your Hearing Aid Needs Repair
Hearing aids are designed to allow the wearer to easily adjust the volume. If you are having trouble making these adjustments, that could be a sign that your hearing aids needs to checked by your audiologist.
If you notice any cracks in the shells, worn out tubing, or a broken case of the hearing aid body, getting it repaired right away could save you a more costly repair down the road.
A continuous whistling sound could be an indication that there’s a fault with your hearing aid, or it could just be caused by a wax buildup in your ears. Try cleaning your ears, then try the hearing aid again. If the whistling continues, have it checked for repair.
A disappearing sound or a sporadic problem could be something as simple as a bad battery. If you replace it and you still have problems, it probably needs repair.
Hearing Only Gets Worse
If you have a hearing aid that stops performing satisfactorily, it may need adjustment. Your audiologist may be able to reprogram the device to ensure that every frequency is perfectly captured.
It Won’t Turn On
If your hearing aid won’t turn on, it may just need a new battery. If that doesn’t fix the problem, you may be tempted to just buy a new one, but that’s not necessarily the best thing to do. Let your audiologist look at it to see if it just needs repairs.
It Got Wet
Some hearing aids are more water resistant than others. If yours got wet and stopped working, take it in for repair right away. If you wait, you may end up having to pay more for the repair or having to replace it altogether.
